SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION

Evidentialists and classical apologists share many common methodological interests. Yet a few areas of concern also remain.

First, Craig does not distinguish his method carefully enough. On the subject of arguing from history to Christian theism, he seems to embrace evidentialism. So why should I object? He supports the evidentialist agenda at its most crucial point!

Second, Craig’s treatment of the witness of the Holy Spirit was certainly helpful, but his term know needs clarification. It is also questionable how much his major emphasis on the Holy Spirit plays in apologetic methodology.

Third, several additional critiques were mentioned, including begging the issue on nonwitness questions concerning other religions, taking a more open approach to the use of evidences and reason, and clarifying the relation between religious doubt and sin.

In sum, Craig is certainly an accomplished apologist, as his writings indicate. I rejoice that his concern for others is so apparent. I value his friendship and hope that, as iron sharpens iron (Prov. 27:17), we will both grow from our mutual interactions.
